Katie McDonald
As vice president of public affairs for Evergy, Katie McDonald leads the marketing, corporate communications, digital customer experience and community relations departments. She is responsible for leading the development and execution of internal and external communications and marketing strategies, including employee communications, media relations, public advocacy, issues/crisis management, marketing, advertising, branding, digital customer strategy, customer affairs and community relations.
Prior to joining Evergy in 2007, she was a consultant with two Kansas City-based marketing and communications agencies where she led teams focused on corporate communications, marketing, public affairs and brand strategy.
Ms. McDonald is active in the Kansas City community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium. She also serves on Operation Breakthrough’s Advisory Board.
Ms. McDonald earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from the Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is also a graduate of the University of Idaho’s Utility Executive Program.
