Heather Humphrey
Heather Humphrey leads the legal and compliance divisions of. Ms. Humphrey is responsible for all litigation, regulatory and corporate legal matters as well as compliance and environmental functions.
Before joining Evergy, Ms. Humphrey was an equity partner with Shughart Thomson & Kilroy in Kansas City, Mo., where her practice focused primarily on business and employment litigation. While in private practice, Ms. Humphrey spent several years as hiring partner and served on the firm’s Strategic Planning Committee. Prior to joining the law firm, she was a law clerk for the Honorable W. Duane Benton of the Missouri Supreme Court.
Ms. Humphrey serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Asset Management Committee of University of Missouri-Kansas City Board of Trustees. She is also serves as a director for both the Board of the Heartland Regional Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operation Corporation. Ms. Humphrey previously served as on the Mayor’s Human Resources Task Force and as a chairperson for the Kansas City Summer Employment Commission as well as on the boards of Starlight Theatre, Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, The Nelson Atkins Business Council and Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey.
Ms. Humphrey earned a business degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, her law degree from Washington University School of Law and an MBA from the Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is also a graduate of Dartmouth’s Tuck Executive Program.
