Charles King
As vice president and chief information officer, Charles King leads all IT functions of Evergy spanning corporate and operations applications; network and data center infrastructure, physical and cyber security, company communications (microwave, radio, and telephony), and centralized support and governance functions including business alignment, enterprise architecture, project management, testing, and desktop support.
In 2011, Mr. King joined the company as senior director of IT applications & delivery. He began his professional career with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in the utility and telecom practice. Later, he joined Sprint, where he led significant portions of IT efforts for the Sprint/Nextel merger, and Sprint’s local telecom business spinoff to form Embarq (now CenturyLink), where he was responsible for all IT delivery and support for consumer, business and wholesale customer lines of business. Prior to joining KCP&L, Mr. King was director of IT shared services for Dish Network, where his accomplishments included implementing a centralized IT services organization.
Mr. King holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in industrial engineering from the University of Arkansas, and a B.S. in mathematics from Harding University.
Currently a member of the Salvation Army advisory board, Mr. King previously served as a volunteer with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.
