Ellen Fairchild

Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer

As vice president, chief compliance officer, Ellen champions Evergy’s commitment to achieving a culture of ethics and compliance. She oversees the company-wide ethics and compliance program, including the programs and systems designed to prevent, detect and mitigate non-compliance. She also leads the company’s FERC and environmental compliance programs, data governance and sustainability areas. Audit Services reports to the Audit Committee and Ms. Fairchild administratively oversees the team.

Ms. Fairchild joined KCP&L in January 2008 as director, investor relations, and in June 2010, she was promoted to senior director, investor relations, and assistant corporate secretary. In November of 2010, she was named vice president, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary. From 1986 to 2002, Ms. Fairchild served as director, Investor Relations, and, subsequently, vice president, Investor Relations, for Aquila Inc. in Kansas City, Mo.

Ms. Fairchild is the board chairman of the Full Employment Council and the Kansas City & Vicinity Area Workforce Investment Board. She serves on the board of directors of Transource Energy, LLC, a company formed by American Electric Power and Great Plains Energy, Inc. and on the board of the Central Exchange. She is active in the Kansas City community and serves on the KC Rising Human Capital Oversight Committee, a collaborative initiative of The Civic Council of Kansas City, the Mid-America Regional Council and the KC Area Development Council.

Ms. Fairchild holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., and an M.B.A. from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.
